Grilled Watermelon is my new found favorite treat! My family has always LOVED watermelon, and we usually enjoy it by sprinkling some sea salt over the top. I had no idea how much flavor grilling the watermelon would create. It is so delicious especially if you add some fresh mint leaves along with your sea salt.

Grilled Watermelon is the perfect healthy side dish, or dessert, for a summer BBQ. I’m always a sucker for BBQ side dishes like the ones I share here on Chinet’s blog. My favorites are of course the ones that are healthy, Paleo or Whole30 approved, like this grilled watermelon recipe with sea salt and mint leaves.

Before I made this recipe, I didn’t have a clue how to grill watermelon, mainly because I had no idea, people, grilled watermelon. I had heard of grilling other fruits like pineapple and peaches, but not watermelon. It sure does make for a delicious summer treat. I sure am glad though that I discovered this secret to making the best watermelon ever. My girls and husband devoured every last bite of this treat last time I made it for them. You can also chop it up and toss it in a seriously delicious Spinach Salad!

How To Grill Watermelon

You will start by cutting your watermelon in inch thick circles. Then cut those circles into fourths like pie slices. Next, you will add your sea salt to both sides and throw on the grill. Grill for 2-3 minutes each side then garnish with fresh mint leaves. I use sweet mint from my herb garden.

How To Choose A Watermelon

A ripe watermelon should feel heavy for its size (big or small), and its yellow splotch should be a creamy yellow. Watermelons develop a yellow splotch from resting on the ground while growing.

Grilled Watermelon

A seriously delicious grilled watermelon recipe that uses mint leaves and sea salt! An insanely delicious and refreshing summer treat.

Ingredients

  • 1 Watermelon
  • 2 Tbsp Sea Salt
  • 1/4 Cup Fresh Mint Leaves

Instructions

  1. Cut your Watermelon into pie shaped slices.

  2. Sprinkle the front and back of all watermelon slices with sea salt before grilling.

  3. Grill your watermelon slices for 2-3 minutes each side.

  4. Garnish your slices with fresh mint leaves.
